BUTTERFLIES AND MOTHS

Butterfly and moth enthusiasts will also enjoy a visit to Tandayapa. At night, numerous species are attracted to lights near the lodge where they are easy to see and photograph.

During his time as a guide at Tandayapa Bird Lodge, Mark Gurney created a photographic guide to many of the butterflies and moths of the Tandayapa Valley.

MAMMALS

The following species have been recorded from the Lodge or the nearby Tandayapa Valley. Most of the smaller mammals were identified by a team from Abilene Christian University and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador.
