During the nights of the 21st and the 22nd of December 2012, Alejandro Arteaga and Lucas Bustamante from Tropical Herping (www.tropicalherping.com) visited our lodge to document, in their particularly amazing way, the herpetofauna present in our property.

They spent two nights searching for frogs and reptiles, walking up and down the various streams that cross our reserve as well as the
trails and the main road. In that short time and despite the unfavorable ultra-dry conditions they managed to find 7 species of frogs
(including a very attractive Glass frog), one species of ground snake (I have work at Tandayapa several years and have seen only once a snake here, these guys are good!) and 2 species of Anolis lizards. According to them, in other wetter conditions they could even triplicate these numbers!

Birds may be the focus at the Tandayapa Bird Lodge, but they have a close relationship with another group of animals—moths. Moths are a major food source for birds, and you will also see many different species of moths while at Tandayapa. Ed Williams worked at Tandayapa volunteering for a month in 2012 and he created a very interesting document about these wonderful creatures. We added some of the photos that were taken by Mark Gurney in 2005.
